Keeping Faith Alive: The Blessed Gerard Circle and Lenten Practices January to March 2026
Amid the operational demands of running feeding programs, clinics, relief operations, and development projects, the Order of Malta Philippines makes deliberate space for prayer. The Blessed Gerard Circle, named for the founder of the Order of Malta, holds its Tuesday afternoon prayer sessions every week, rain or shine.
Beginning at 3 PM, OMP members and staff gather to pray the four mysteries of the Holy Rosary. During the Lenten Season this quarter, the Stations of the Cross were incorporated, followed by the recitation of the Sorrowful Mystery. Members alternate in the roles of prayer leader and respondent throughout the two-hour gathering.
It is a quiet practice, but a consistent one. In an organization whose work is often visible and outward-facing, the weekly prayer circle is a reminder of what animates that work and where the Association draws its strength.
