Order of Malta Philippines Delegation Embarks on Annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes

A delegation from the Order of Malta Philippines, led by the OMP President, H.E Dame Josephine E. Bantug, embarked on a spiritually enriching journey during the Annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, held from May 5 to 9, 2023. The delegation, consisting of the Hospitaller, Chancellor, Aspirants for Membership, and accompanying family members, actively participated in various religious and liturgical activities alongside counterparts from the Hong Kong, Singapore, Australian Associations, as well as fellow members from around the globe.

Engaging in general activities, the Order’s members, together with their companion malades, took part in a Holy Sacrament Procession and the blessing of the sick, a Pontifical Marian Procession, and the Sunday Eucharistic Celebration held at the underground Basilica of Pius X.

A significant highlight of the pilgrimage was the distribution of medals to first-time participants, a momentous occasion graced by the Grand Master at the Church of Saint Bernadette on May 6th. The pilgrimage’s official closure transpired with a mass at the underground basilica on May 8. Notably, the delegation contributed to the Order’s hospitaller works by selling rosaries and Philippine products, with proceeds earmarked for charitable endeavors.
