In May 13, 1992, Pope John Paul II dedicated February 11, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, as World Day of the Sick. For the past 3 years the Order of Malta, together with the Archdiocese of Manila, have celebrated this day with the sick. This year, the mass and anointing of the sick was held in Espiritu Santos Parish Church in Tayuman with His Excellency, Most Rev. Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, D.D. officiating and 33 priests concelebrating the mass. There were 1,200 sick and elderly who welcomed the anointing of the sick with faith in our Lord and His beloved Mother, Our Lady of Lourdes. Ambassador of the Order of Malta to the Philippines H.E. Leonida Vera donated the packed lunch for all the participants while Doña Ma. Victoria Concepcion donated water and juice.
