During August 2012’s habagat rains that hit the metropolis for seven continuous days, the Order of Malta Philippines mobilized its team of volunteers and members and immediately met to prepare relief packs for more than 5,000 families affected by the continuous monsoon rains. Relief packs were distributed in Tunasan and Putatan in Muntinlupa City; Talim Island in Binangonan, Rizal; Makati City; Quezon City; and Malabon areas by members of the Order of Malta Philippines spearheaded by Hospitaller Chaplain Msgr. Esteban U. Lo, LRMS and staff Christopher Cabalquinto, Dra. Perla Alban, Gloria Solis, Maricon Ignacio and Cecilia Piñones and other volunteers, Joselito Ludovice, Gleen Cagatan, Armando Atisor, Anna Angelica Songco and Eunice Cabalquinto, who ably assisted the team.

We thank those who helped us in one way or another – those who supported us financially, those who gave in kind and especially to those who volunteered their time. All these efforts enabled us to distribute relief goods immediately to those most in need.

Also we thank our foreign donors Malteser International, the Order’s Worldwide Relief arm based in Germany, and AmeriCares Foundation, USA for their prompt and continuous support in this time of need.
