Typhoon Frank swept the Visayas provinces of Iloilo, Aklan, Antique and Capiz, on June 21, 2008 inundating cities, towns, and villages, and leaving 44,500 homeless. The Order of Malta Philippines together with its partner, AmeriCares, helped 600 families in the Iloilo towns of Sta. Barbara, Jaro and Kalibo, Aklan with donations of construction materials to build/repair the homes of the poor victims of the typhoon.

The first mission was to Sta. Barbara in Iloilo with Msgr. Esteban Lo, Magistral Chaplain, Doña Odelia Arroyo, Hospitaller, Doña Marivic Concepcion, Doña Rosemarie Prieto, and Doña Josephine Bantug, together with Cecilia Piñones, Dr. Perla Alban, and Christopher Cabalquinto where the donations were distributed in the 300-year old church of the Parish.

The second mission was to Kalibo, Aklan on July 23, 2008 with AmeriCares delegation from the United States, Shelly Malhotra, Terry Conroy, Martha Kennard, and Msgr. Esteban Lo, Doña Josephine Bantug, Dr. Jaime Lapus, Cecilia Piñones, and Maricon Ignacio. The team had to ride in bancas to reach the towns of Kalibo, Aklan, to distribute the nipa huts, woods, GI sheets and other construction materials to 300 impoverished families who lost their homes.
