Order of Malta

The Order of Malta assembled once again in Lourdes for its annual pilgrimage, and this is the 51st year of this devotion. The different associations, priories and sub-priories from all over the world bring their malades to this holy place, not so much to witness a miracle but to experience the healing of the soul and to obtain the peace so yearned for. The delegation of the Order of Malta Philippines this year was headed by its President, Don Ernest Rufino, together with his wife, Doña Josefina Rufino, Doña Delza V. Lazatin, Doña Leonida L. Vera, Doña Odelia G. Arroyo, and Magistral Chaplain, Msgr. Esteban U. Lo. The five day pilgrimage was led by the Prince and Grand Master of the Order of Malta, Fra’ Matthew Festing, with most of the Sovereign Council in attendance. The cold and rainy weather did not deter anyone from attending all the events which went on as scheduled with masses, blessings of the sick, baths, rosary processions, and the procession of the Holy Eucharist.
